3 Steps to Destroy an Enemy

 

 

No one wants enemies.

Every now and then, enemies will find us.

 

These are people who want us to fail.

For the most part, we can ignore them.

 

However, there are times when they cross the line, and we need to check them.

 

When we check an enemy, we need to be strategic.

If we are going all gun-ho, then that will lead to weaknesses and open attack points on our end.

That’s not what we want.

 

In this talk, you will get a simple 3 step framework on how to destroy an enemy.

The following 3 steps are:

  1. Research.
  2. Identify.
  3. Execute.

 

Identifying An Enemy

 

The first step in being strategic with destroying an enemy is to decide whether or not the person is really an enemy.

A lot of people are emotional in this stage.

They just call everyone an enemy.

 

When you are incapable of properly labeling an enemy, then you become a madman in the making.

 

Here’s how I can tell if this person is really a nemesis or not.

I ask:

“If the war got really heated, can I include their family into the mix as well?”

 

This seems like a sinister question to ask.

“Include their family in the mix? Of course not! I don’t have a problem with the family, I only have a problem with this person.”

 

Doesn’t matter.

Ask the question anyway.

 

When you ask this highly sinister question, it surprisingly calms you down.

 

You know that guy who has been trolling you on social media?

Ask the question about him.

If it got really heated, can you bring his family into the mix?

 

That’s when it’ll feel like you’re snapping out of a spell.

You’ll think:

‘What the heck? Of course not!’

 

Then you realize you were being emotional.

If you will not bring their family into it, or the thought just grosses you out, then you and this person don’t have beef like your ego was making you think.

 

Every now and then, the answer is yes.

You think, “all is fair in love and war,” with this person.

 

If this person is really an enemy, proceed to the next step.

 

Research

 

Just like a lot of people cannot properly identify an enemy, others are too impulsive.

They go insane and begin breaking everything.

 

I believe you need to pause and do your research.

We research by keeping the Pareto principle in mind.

The Pareto principle states that 20 percent of work leads to 80 percent of results.

 

In the research phase, your goal is to find their 20% and destroy it.

 

I’ll give you an example.

 

Imagine that your enemy is a self-published author.

For most of these authors, only a few of their books make most of their money while the rest just collect dust.

Your goal is to see which books are making the most money.

 

This is pretty easy to do.

You can pull up their listing pages and compare best-seller ranks.

 

After you have identified which books make the most money, you will have made it pretty far.

This is when you get creative in taking those books down.

I’ll talk about how to take these books down in step 3 (execute).

 

For step 2, your goal is to just research what their 20% is.

Where are they getting their strength from?

 

This guy doesn’t have many connections at work.

But one guy, Mike Taylor, hooks this guy up with so many career opportunities.

Mike is their 20 percent.

 

Send a random email to Mike saying that this guy has been talking trash about him.

Make it sound real.

Use real names from work.

 

Plant doubt in Mike’s mind.

Now Mike looks at this guy in a shady manner and withholds career opportunities.

 

You have successfully taken away 20% while leading to 80%of damage.

Good job.

 

Execute

 

Once you identify the 20%, you need to think of creative ways to remove it.

Back to the book example.

 

What are some ways you can kill their books?

 

Well, one example is to leak the manuscript to the black market and help those websites rank on Google search.

So, in the future, whenever customers are looking to purchase the book, they see a discounted or free version of the same book on another site.

You have created friction in sales.

 

The future customer will think:

‘Why will I pay full price when I can get a discount?’

 

Another way to kill the book is to question the credibility of the author.

Say that the book was plagiarized and make up evidence.

Most humans don’t care about what’s right, they care about what sounds the most interesting.

 

Another way to kill the book is to create a way better quality product and bash your rival’s book as a marketing gimmick.

 

The different methods are endless.

It’s your goal to get creative in the execution strategy.

 

Once you have identified the 20%, it saves a lot of bandwidth for your mind to get creative.

It may take time to find your action of choice.

When you do, pray for them.

They’ll need it.

 

Be Careful

 

When you’re leveling up, one of the worst things to do is get distracted.

Your time is limited.

You need to work on your goals and blossom.

 

For the most part, avoid making enemies.

And for the most part, avoid getting into back and forth’s with enemies.

 

Every now and then, someone needs to be made an example of.

They have been a nuisance for far too long.

Unless you make them respect you, they will continue to waste your time.

 

Destroying an enemy engages the empathy factor in our brain.

We have a thing called “mirror neurons.”

 

When we see another human struggling, even if we hate them, we will struggle a bit too.

So, be careful.

When you destroy an enemy, you may destroy a bit of yourself too.
