The Hidden Benefit of Yoga
The following post is from the ArmaniTalks Newsletter
A few years ago, I started the p90x program.
For those of you not familiar with it, its a workout program.
90 days of an athletic regimen to not only look good, but also feel good.
One of the workouts were Yoga.
Most of the workouts were pretty intense.
A lot of burpees, 1 legged workouts, pull-up variations etc.
Thought yoga would be light work.
But it wasn’t.
It was a good amount of effort.
Once you are done with it, you feel like a million bucks tho.
Something about Yoga feels as though it connects all of your body.
You normally don’t see any relationship with your right bicep & left quadricep.
But when you do Yoga, you find a shared connection between the two.
When you learn, your neural pathways begin intertwining.
That’s why the person who is always learning is getting more creative day by day.
Their neural pathways are connecting in all new forms, leading to an emergent property of creativity.
Similar effect with the body.
When you practice physical yoga, it’s as though the nerve fibers begin intertwining in new ways.
You feel whole.
And the emergent property is confidence.
Yep, that’s the hidden secret of yoga.
A stronger bond with yourself.
There are tons of Yoga’s out there.
The one that we are familiar with in the mainstream is called Hatha Yoga.
This is the one where you leverage your body & postures.
But there are tons of different Yoga’s out there.
One of the best resources to learn a practical application of Yoga is the Bhagvad Gita.
You learn about 4 particular:
-Bhakti yoga- yoga of devotion.
-Karma yoga- yoga of selfless action.
-Jnana yoga- yoga of knowledge.
-Raja yoga- yoga of concentration. Pointed mind.
Hatha yoga isn’t covered in that particular book.
But you can always get a YouTube video of different yoga routines.
Feeling whole is one of the main components of being a great communicator.
When you get on the public speaking stage, your body is going to be firing of all sorts of signals.
It’s time like that when you will be be proud of getting to know your body.
You planned ahead.
Make yoga a part of your life,
One of the best investments you can make.
