Creating Value with Your Knowledge

Creating Value with Your Knowledge

This post is from the ArmaniTalks Newsletter

Ideas are the new oil.

If you can generate breathtaking ideas on autopilot, then you are guaranteed to become wealthy overtime.

Most people don’t know the difference between thoughts and ideas.

They confuse their thoughts as ideas.

I’ll dumb it down:

  • Thoughts only relate to you.
  • While ideas relate to you and other people.

An example of a thought is a purple elephant.

Can you see it?

Picture a purple elephant.

If you just leave it at that, then it’s a thought.

But if you decide to create a cartoon show that is centered around a purple elephant, suddenly, it becomes an idea!

Why?

Because it relates to other people.

Thoughts don’t need to factor in other people, but ideas do.

A long time ago, I was staying in a dorm in college.

I had 3 roommates.

And don’t laugh…

All 3 roommates were gay.

Whenever I share this moment from my life, the first thing people ask me is:

‘Haha what was it like? Did they try to hit on you?’

Nah.

They all did their own thing and were pretty nice.

The white guy was feminine and quiet.

The black guy was feminine and talkative.

And the Italian guy was this muscular manly Jersey guy who preferred to be a lone wolf.

The main guy who would try to talk to me was the black guy.

One day, I was making an omelet in the kitchen.

I didn’t think much of it.

Suddenly the black guy said:

‘I loveee the way you crack eggs.’

I was rattled.

‘What??’ I asked.

He said:

‘I loveee the way you crack eggs. How do you do that?’

Then I noticed he was actually asking about the eggs.

I showed him my process.

One egg is ALWAYS harder than the other egg.

It can be harder just by a bit too.

Doesn’t matter.

If you hit those eggs against each other, the softer egg will always crack while the harder egg remains fully intact.

He thought the softer egg would crack while the harder egg also cracks a little and drips some egg white goo.

Nope.

The harder egg will remain fully in tact!

My roommate was being introduced to a new world.

Whenever he cracked eggs, he was hitting them across the edge of the pantry.

Doing that with one egg is fine.

But doing that with 5 eggs becomes a mess.

A lot of the egg whites get splattered on the pantry.

The egg white goo falls onto the floor.

He accidentally steps on the goo.

The cooking experience is ruined.

When I told him that one egg is always harder…

Now he could just mash the eggs above the pan.

And he’d only have to hit one egg (the final hardest one) on the pantry.

Boom.

Way more efficient.

I gave him an idea.

It saved him time.

The main thing you want to understand is that thoughts and ideas are different.

Loose thoughts mean nothing.

But if you can intertwine those thoughts to serve value to people, then you have a great idea in the making.
