How Twitter Has Changed for the Worst

I’ve seen the different stages of Twitter throughout the years.

The first time I heard of the platform was around 2012.

During 2012, Twitter was seen as the platform to follow celebrities.

You’ll use the tool to stay updated with the latest sports news.

Plus, if you’d hit up your favorite athletes, they’d respond back to you.

Later, Twitter became a platform where people would talk about their days.

It became a personal journal.

Around 2015, more bloggers migrated to Twitter.

They talked about a variety of topics ranging from relationships, finance, to body building, etc.

In 2018, I started the ArmaniTalks Twitter account.

My account dealt with public speaking and communication skills.

I was introduced to the self-improvement side of Twitter.

Nowadays, Twitter is no more.

It’s called X now.

It’s living up to the name.

You will see a ton of XXX on it.

The Rise of Porn and Hate Commentary

Twitter is a cesspool for porn now.

Whenever a post goes viral, I’ll go to the comments.

Rather than being met with insightful contributions, I see a girl getting rammed up the butt.

It’s straight porn too.

No blur or anything.

This girl begins promoting her OnlyFans link.

Before, the comment section had insightful contributions.

Nowadays, the comments are dumb like the ones on the WorldStar videos.

Also, since Twitter is a free speech platform, people say the most outrageous things to go viral.

Genuine critique is fine.

But they go beyond criticism to just bashing another group.

If you bring up this concern, they’ll say, “are you for free speech or not?”

They do have a point.

With free speech comes the good and the bad.

You have to accept both.

Twitter is way more political nowadays.

If you don’t cover politics, then your account fades into the abyss.

Troll Accounts and Scattered Information

It’s harder to find things you want to see.

If you really need to find something, then you need to use the advanced search feature.

Their search bar is not good.

I recall there was this big sports news recently and I went on Twitter to find it.

I kept seeing troll accounts pretending to be NBA insiders…

Rather than finding stuff that I want to see, I keep getting recommended trash that I don’t want to see!

Which brings me to my next point…

Sketch, Sexxy Red, and Hawk Tua Girl

Twitter forces you to care about things that you don’t care about.

Within the past week, my newsfeed has been FLOODED with news of this streamer named Sketch.

Who the hell is Sketch?

I had 0 desire to find out who he was or why everyone was talking about him.

I kept scrolling past his name.

Every time I scrolled past his name, I’d see his name again!!

I was flooded with his name all over my news feed.

I never gave Twitter the inkling of an idea that I was interested in the streamer community.

I think streamers are low-lives who don’t have any real talent.

Why the hell am I constantly being recommended this garbage?

Eventually, I was forced to see what the hype was about.

I was forced to have an opinion on Sketch.

After I found out why he was trending, I resented Twitter.

Twitter, you could have given me some news on self-improvement, finance, or fitness, but no…

You gave me information on a gay-for-pay streamer!

How does this improve my life in any way??

Sketch is just the beginning.

For the past few weeks, I was FORCED to have an opinion on 2 other low lives.

Sexxy Red and Hawk Tua girl.

It’s like the Twitter algorithm is broken.

Before, the algorithm would recommend self-improvement accounts if you were a self-improvement account.

Nowadays, they are recommending streamers to people who don’t give a damn about streamers.

The Rise of Plagiarism & Sales Pitches

Plagiarism has always been a thing.

But with Twitter, it’s on crack.

I was recording an episode of Unapologetic Truths recently.

During the episode, I made a comment, and my cohost was said:

‘You should tweet that!’

I told him I did tweet that in the past.

‘Hold on, let me find the tweet so you can retweet it.’

As I was looking for the tweet, I saw at least 5 accounts that stole my tweet verbatim.

A lot of platforms suffer from plagiarism.

With Twitter though, it’s too easy.

There’s no punishment either.

There’s no way of knowing someone stole from you unless you get curious about a post that you once wrote.

If you want to see how many people are plagiarizing you, then just think of your 5 most popular tweets.

Type it in the search bar and see how many people took what you said word for word.

Before, my DMs were flooded with people who wanted to thank me for changing their life, or other creators who wanted to collaborate with me.

Nowadays, my DMs are flooded with:

‘Saar, if you pay me 150 dollars per month, then I’ll write your tweets for you.’

Write my tweets for me??

Why would I want you to do something like that?!

It’s called ArmaniTalks.

Not RajTalks.

Conclusion

Anyways, Twitter does have some good parts though.

A few good changes are:

• How Twitter is becoming a multimedia platform where you can add videos too.
• There are different ways to monetize on the platform.
• Twitter is always experimenting. I heard they may introduce a dating feature in the future.
• Twitter lives up to its “free speech” mantra.
• Plus, Twitter has been emphasizing long-form content more with Spaces.

There is a lot of potential for Twitter.

I’m still bullish on the platform.

I just wish they would:

• Fix the algorithm.
• Get rid of the porn.
• Reward good content that benefits lives rather than sensationalism crap.
• Quit shadowbanning creators, and gaslighting them into thinking nothing is wrong.
• And find creative ways to reduce all the sales pitches and plagiarism.
