How Michael B. Jordan Became a Star
Around 2017, I was hearing about Michael B. Jordan a lot.
It was kind of annoying.
Every time his name came up, girls would start fawning over him:
- “Oh my God, I would have his babies.”
- “He’s so attractive.”
- “He’s the best-looking actor out right now.”
And I’d be sitting there thinking, Okay, but what about his acting?
How come nobody ever talks about that?
I kept hearing his name for months before I actually watched one of his movies.
And when I finally did, I’m not going to lie…
I was a little underwhelmed.
He wasn’t bad, but at the time (2017), I didn’t think he was great either.
I chalked it up to one of those situations where someone is hyped mainly because of how they look.
But the thing is… Michael B. Jordan didn’t go away.
He kept getting big roles, major projects, and a lot of media attention.
He was constantly being labeled as “the next big thing.”
And slowly, I started to pay more attention.
The Power of Good Looks
Whether you want to admit it or not, good looks play a major role in star power.
I’m not saying it’s the only factor, but it definitely helps.
Take Zendaya for example.
Or Sydney Sweeney.
They’re often marketed first for their physical appeal before people even start talking about their talent.
Michael B. Jordan followed a similar path.
He had the polish, the body, the appeal and people gravitated toward that.
You need to look like a star.
If you’re the kind of person someone could walk by and not remember, it’s a much harder path.
Great looks aren’t everything, but they do open doors quicker.
And Michael had that star look from the jump.
The Magic Number: Three Great Movies
To be a certified star, you need at least three great movies under your belt within a 10-year span.
And I think Michael B. Jordan hit that number.
- Creed
- Black Panther
- Sinners
When you can point to three standout films, your place in the industry starts to solidify.
Of course, to reach legend status like Denzel Washington or Will Smith, you’ll probably need 8 to 10 great movies.
But Michael is definitely stacking up a resume that’s heading in that direction.
He also seems to be very selective with his roles.
He doesn’t just do any project.
And when he picks something, it works.
The fit is right.
The chemistry is right.
The execution is strong.
A Craft That’s Constantly Evolving
I recently watched Sinners, and I learned that Michael B. Jordan isn’t just “a good-looking guy.”
He’s actually a great actor.
One thing great actors do is make difficult performances look effortless.
In Sinners, he played two different characters, and it felt seamless.
At times, I forgot I was watching someone act.
He’s not just getting roles, he’s owning them.
I could honestly see him doing Broadway, and I wouldn’t be surprised.
A Focused, Introspective Path
Michael B. Jordan isn’t married.
And there’s this saying that you need a partner to reach the top, but I’m not so sure that’s true.
I feel like he is an introverted, introspective guy.
He’s talked about being into anime and comic books.
He doesn’t seem like the typical Hollywood party guy.
And maybe that focus (without the distractions of dating or marriage) is helping him pour everything into his craft.
It reminds me a bit of Leonardo DiCaprio.
It’s an unpopular opinion, but I believe you don’t need a life partner to become great.
As long as your single life is centered around your purpose, not just chasing women or clout, you can build something iconic.
What we’re witnessing with Michael B. Jordan is a true star in the making.
Someone evolving in front of our eyes.
- He had the look.
- He got the roles.
- He hit the “magic three.”
- He’s focused and selective.
- And now… he’s a legitimate, skilled actor.
If he keeps this pace, we may one day speak of him in the same breath as the legends.
