Figure Out the Middle of Your Speech First
The following post is from the ArmaniTalks Newsletter
It’s easy to overthink a speech.
It’s hard to know how to begin.
In the beginning, we are thinking:
- Should I start off with a joke?
- Nah, let me start off serious.
- How about a punch line?
We overthink the beginning so much that it becomes difficult to get to the middle and the end.
The beginning is important because we will immediately capture the audience.
However, here’s a pro tip:
- It’s easier to create the beginning when you have a grasp of the middle.
- The beginning gives a preview of what the speech is about.
- The end gives a recap of what the speech was about.
The better you know your middle, the more the beginning and end take care of themselves.
When you are overthinking your speech creation; you want to switch up the time blocks.
Rather than thinking in a linear way:
- Beginning, middle, and end.
Think:
- Middle, then beginning or end.
The stronger grasp that you have of what your middle is about, the less you will overthink.
You will find the creamed of your Oreo, and analysis paralysis will melt.
