Create Content for YouTube Starting TODAY

Create Content for YouTube Starting TODAY

YouTube is a powerful search engine tool.

It’s creeping up on Google.

The reason why YouTube is a powerful tool is that it allows us to go primal.

Something about seeing a human’s eyes and hearing their voice is different.

The written word is mental technology.

However, the spoken word will always have a spot as long as humans are visual creatures.

We want to see someone and feel their presence.

Even though YouTube logically sounds like a great decision for your business, you may be hesitant.

A part of you may be thinking, ‘well, what do I talk about?’

In this post, I want to give you some ideas on how to think, how to create content for YouTube & how to be consistent.

This search engine is only growing in importance.

So no, it’s not too late to start a YouTube channel.

The Right Mindset for Creating Videos

There’s this great book called, The Long Tail by Chris Anderson.

In the book, he brings up the concept of having a bunch of tiny wins.

He goes onto say that a bunch of tiny wins over a long period of time is more valuable than an occasional hit.

I love this mindset and believe it can be directly applied to YouTube videos as well.

My philosophy is, ‘rather than try to be a celebrity, provide value for a micro-niche.’

The reason I go for the micro-niche over a general audience is because this allows you to attract more than chase.

Also, a series of tiny wins allow you to think long-term.

The first few videos are clunky.

You may have no clue how to look at the camera.

You may freeze up when the recording light is on.

Or find shortness of breath when speaking.

By thinking long-term, you envision a marathon with YouTube rather than a sprint.

Rather than being super defeated when faced with a setback, you’re like, ‘all good, I’m just putting in my practice reps.’

The small wins add up over time.

And you attract an audience who can buy from you rather than just stack up your likes.

Finding Topics to Talk About

Now that you view YouTube as a marathon, you may be wondering the basic question:

  • What do I talk about?

Then there’s another question:

  • How can I find MULTIPLE topics within a niche?

My ArmaniTalks YouTube channel deals with communication skills.

At first, I thought there were only a few basic topics to discuss.

Public speaking, social skills, storytelling and that’s about it.

3 videos. Done, right?

Nope, not at all.

I’ve done over 300+ videos, and am surprised to find different topics all the time.

I don’t have enough time to discuss everything! (Which is a good problem to have).

‘What has been your trick?’

Well, I picked a niche that I am involved in and work with clients on.

So it allows me to find unique angles.

Also, I also invested in a keyword research tool called Tubebuddy.

They have a free option you can get started with.

However, I use the paid version for around 10 dollars a month.

It’s very easy to use and allows me to research different topics that people are searching for.

So in this case, multiple groups win.

  1. I have more topic ideas.
  2. Others who are searching for a specific keyword will be given a video addressing that problem.

If you’re serious about investing in YouTube long-term, I highly recommend investing in a keyword research tool.

It saves a ton of time & turns you from a newbie to a content creation machine.

Building a Content Creation Plan

With a plan, things become much easier.

It adds structure to chaos.

Quick digression for a second.

You know what allows me to feel bold on Twitter?

‘Twitter? We are talking about how to create content for YouTube.’

I said I’m taking a quick digression!

‘Oh yea, what makes you feel bold?’

The draft section.

The draft section of Twitter allows me to write a bunch of my tweets and not publish them immediately.

I save those tweets for a rainy day.

Those days when I’m sick, or on vacation.

Over time, the tweets in the draft section have stacked up.

This allows me to always feel bold when writing.

It’s because in the back of my mind, I think, ‘even if I’m not feeling creative today, I have my draft box.’

Just having those backups allow me to feel at ease with the creation process.

Likewise, you don’t want to be living paycheck to paycheck with your videos.

This means, you don’t want to barely make the cut for uploading.

Set up a schedule you can see yourself doing for 10 years.

’10 years??’

Yes, just think like that in the beginning.

Even if you don’t plan to do it for 10 years, you still condition the mind to think in terms of sustainability.

A lot of people will feel very excited in the beginning.

Then they’ll start doing daily videos 5 times a day, which will cause them to burn out.

When you think long term, you create reasonable expectations with a schedule.

An example is 3 videos every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Average video length for 10 minutes.

My recommendation is to try to squeeze in an extra recording every other weekend to stack up your rainy day videos.

This allows you to feel bold.

Create, Publish, Create, Publish

So you committed long term.

You have a bunch of ideas from your keyword research tool.

Then you developed a content creation plan.

Now the name of the game is to record videos and hit publish.

I don’t quite know about your social media presence.

But if you have a presence anywhere else, you can use the traffic from those platforms to promote your YouTube videos for release.

Be a tad bit aware of overpromoting.

Some platforms don’t like it when you take their traffic and send it to another platform.

If you ended up doing some keyword research, then over time, YouTube will begin to show some love to your videos.

Tubebuddy has this weighted feature where it measures your channel’s likelihood for ranking for a certain keyword.

It takes time for a video to get search engine traffic.

It’s much faster than Google though.

However, there is a wait.

Keep creating and publishing.

As your portfolio grows, you will grow.

As you grow, you’ll start to serve a tiny niche that can eventually turn into customers.

Those customers will become brand ambassadors for the future.

The Fruits of a YouTube channel

A great part of YouTube is that it can be turned into a business of its own.

You can sell your products.

Sell other people’s products.

Run ads on your videos.

There are tons of unique monetization strategies out there.

One of the most important fruits is the primal feature.

You get to connect with someone on a deeper level.

I see the future straying away from the overly edited glitz and glam videos.

I see channels that don’t have too many cut scenes in their videos getting more love.

Mainly because the latter has a personal feature.

But hey, that’s just a prediction…

You know exactly what you need to know to create content for YouTube.

Research, create, publish and repeat.

Good luck.
