Complaining and Whining A lot?? Read This!!

Complaining – Solution = Complaining

Complaining + Solution = Potential Business Idea

It’s not as though complaining and whining are bad.

It’s more so about learning how to leverage this behavior (when it arises) into something grander.

The mind can be reprogrammed in multiple ways, good or bad.

Neuroscience for Dummies:

The mind influences the brain.

The brain influences the mind.

It’s awareness that allows for control of the mind in the first place!

One of the best times to build awareness is during dark moments.

If you’re complaining a lot, chances are you’re in some sort of dark moment.

Can this darkness be turned into light?

Let’s find out!

How Different People Complain

Do you ever watch sports?

‘Sometimes, but not that often.’

Well, I enjoy sports.

Not only for the entertainment.

But more so for the life lessons buried behind the entertainment.

In sports, I learn how athletes deal with pressure.

In competitive games, things do not always turn out as planned.

When the game is on the line, it’s easier to distinguish the stars from the superstars.

A superstar maintains composure, avoids finger pointing & takes on even more pressure.

The stars normally play great.

But under pressure, they crumble.

These stars are not always complaining with their words.

Rather, with their body.

Shuffling a lot, rolling their eyes at their teammates & moving in a deflated manner.

The pressure is getting to them.

I’m talking about sports to highlight that complaining is not always done with words.

It can also be done with the body.

At the core of it all, it comes down to an attitude.

An attitude that drains rather than empowers.

Complaining and Whining Can Lead to Creativity

You’ll be surprised how many businesses were born from the backs of complaints.

A particular entrepreneur didn’t like things as they were.

They complained.

And eventually, they asked:

‘What if I do something about it??’

That’s how complaining can lead to enhanced creativity.

It gives the opportunity to become hyper-aware.

Awareness guides the mind.

‘But how do I guide an agitated mind?’

By first giving it permission to be agitated.

After a rock bottom moment, it’s often smart to give yourself some time to be sad.

This makes it easier to deal with tough emotions, introspect & come out stronger.

However, being sad without a semblance of a deadline will turn rock bottom from:

  • A temporary moment into a way of life.

Give yourself some time to be sad but have a rough idea of when you’ll get back to work.

Same concept with complaining.

Give yourself time to complain.

Be agitated.

Build understanding of the problem.

Then the desire to complain will slowly start to fade away.

Complaining can be done with the mind, through written form, or audio.

Not saying complaining is a must to move on.

Some people have a quicker bounce-back rate & things roll off their shoulders quickly.

This section is more so to understand why tough people are complaining.

‘Can I ever complain in front of others?’

That’s an interesting question.

Should You Complain in Front of Others?

I have a mixed philosophy regarding this.

I’ve seen strong friendships born through some complaining and whining.

An example is when 2 upcoming entrepreneurs complain about the hit their social life has taken since their entrepreneurial journey.

The beginning stages of entrepreneurship are not easy & require grit.

These 2 entrepreneurs during their moment of vulnerability, build a deeper resonation point with one another.

They have cheatcoded the rapport-building process.

However, this move is a dynamite.

It can easily be misused.

I would say complaining around others depends on a case-by-case basis.

There are tons of variables involved.

Someone who gives a blanket ‘yes’ or ‘no’ response may not be fully aware of all the variables.

Sometimes, complaining builds rapport.

Other times, complaining highlights weakness.

And other times, complaining is ammunition for a closet snake.

Therefore, know that this is not an empowering move.

If the complaining is not leading to any form of creativity, social bonds, or anything…

Best to fall back.

Why Do People Complain?

‘So Armani, you never explained why people complain in the first place.’

I didn’t.

It’s smart if I wrap up this post by explaining why.

Number 1, humans naturally like talking about themselves.

Complaining creates physical sensations in the body.

Number 2, The ego enjoys spilling its thoughts to someone who is listening.

Number 3, The ego always needs an enemy.

During the process of complaining, an enemy is created.

The enemy depends on what is being complained about.

  • It can be the lack of seriousness on climate change.
  • The incompetency of the president.
  • How Susie is throwing too many events for her birthday weekend.

Etc.

The ego loves holding on for power.

The body loves feeling good.

Any emotion is better than minimal to no emotion for the body.

The combination of ego, feeling heard & feel-good emotions lead to complaining & whining.

Rewire Mind & Body with Gratitude

A little bit of gratitude flips the paradigm entirely.

It allows you to shift your focus.

Gratitude is not only about acknowledging the wins.

It’s about finding the wisdom in the wins & losses.

When you feel like complaining, see if you can sneak in the question:

‘Is there ANYTHING to learn from this?’

Sneaking in this question is subtle, yet DEADLY.

In the moment of asking that question, the mind automatically begins the reframing process!

This process is when the mind learns to turn a bad moment into a learning lesson.

Street smarts is born, my friend.

Knowledge is power when knowledge is applied.

Dark moments imply when gratitude should be practiced.

Awareness redirects the mind.

The mind rewires the neural pathways in the body.

And the body leads to more empowering, enriching thoughts in the mind.
