Becoming an Idea Machine

An idea is a structured thought.

A fundamental look…

We have tons of thoughts a day.

Too many to count.

And from those many thoughts, we don’t structure most of them.

They just come in one second.

And leave the next.

In order for this thought to be an idea, there needs to be structure.

By structure, it comes down to a simple intent.

What am I structuring this idea towards?

Never think you can run out of ideas.

That’s like when a thirsty man is screaming for water in the hot desert.

While his back is facing the river.

Let me reiterate:

  • Never think you can run out of ideas.

Because even if you tried, it would not be possible.

Structuring a Thought

When having writer’s block, it’s important to ask a simple question:

‘If I were the only person who existed in this universe, what would I say?’

This simple question gives a flurry of ideas.

Then the mind may be like:

‘Whoa, why don’t I always do this trick??’

You should.

It’s a clutch trick.

The ability to envision yourself being the only person in the universe leads to creative leaps.

This lets the guards down and presents the mind with thoughts worth structuring.

The mind gets a lot of imagery, concepts & content.

Yet, only a few are worth looking at.

The Process of Finetuning

Getting relevant thoughts is one thing.

Structuring it is another thing.

Content may be king in the digital world.

However, concentration is king in the mental world.

Can you still the mind?

‘Nah man, I can’t…’

That’s cool.

That’s why we have other information technology tools like the:

  • Voice recorder
  • Pencil and paper
  • Twitter etc.

All places to externalize.

‘Externalize? What’s that…And no I’m not paying for anything.’

No, it’s not a product.

It’s a concept.

Me writing this blog post is an example of externalization.

A process of me getting the thought from point A to point B.

Externalizing is like fishing.

Doesn’t matter if you have the most fishes in the lake…

If you forgot your fishing pole and you’re too scared to dive into the water.

Where Do You Stand?

Learning to be a writer, speaker, communicator is much more difficult than it seems.

Even though it looks easy from the surface level.

With the rise of the internet, more people are creating content of some sort.

It may be memes on their Whatsapp group chat.

It may be small Instagram skits.

Or a blog post.

At the fundamental level….

All these people have a question at one point:

Where do I stand on certain issues?

Tracy Morgan is a famous comedian.

And he keeps his comedy routine simple.

“I just tell the truth & that’s about it.”

Simple & elegant.

How can we define truth though?

That’s a personal look into our world view.

To become an idea machine, the mind needs to be aware of a variety of topics.

One of the biggest myths we have been sold is that subjects are separate from one another.

Nah….

All subjects are interconnected.

Learning about perfume will help you learn about Coca-Cola.

No lie.

To find the truth that we stand for….

It’s about casting a wide net on that lake.

And then capturing the lake…making it our own.

Practice Makes Perfect

Discovering an absolute truth is personal.

Someone may agree on a lot of principles.

But in terms of DISCOVERING the process of what someone stands for, it’s a game of introspection.

No money can buy that.

‘Then what?’

The process of externalization, dummy.

Aka, the process of converting thoughts into ideas & ideas into words.

The speech and fingers are the tools of the idea machine.

I’ve come to find that some consistent musicians consider themselves warriors.

They have been consistent for so long because they look at their songs like a samurai looks at his weapons.

The sword will make the samurai fierce.

And the shield will make the samurai tactical.

For the idea machine, the words & breathing controls are the sword and shield.

Words are capable of piercing & and creating storytellers.

The control of breath prevents the storyteller from getting too carried away.

Practice makes perfect.

‘Writing or speaking?’

Practice makes perfect..

‘Didn’t you hear what I asked? Should I write or speak?’

Practice makes perfect…

What this means is don’t lose sight of the target due to getting lost in tactics.

Writing or speaking leads to the same goal.

And that’s to become prolific.

Growing Ideas Over Time

The fun part of becoming an idea machine is about changing a world view.

Changing the thought waves of the mind.

Right now…the population works with the Ego Operating System.

The ‘me, me, me’ center.

They may get ideas.

Yet, the ideas are self-centered.

Me, me, me.

Egoism is creating blinders on this guy.

Information becomes limited when filtering it thru very dark glasses.

Getting ideas and externalizing them flips the mindset.

It turns the mind from the Ego Operating System to the Universal Operating System.

Having a larger vision allows one to approach old ideas from a new lens.

An idea from a year ago may be different or it may be a reminder.

Read that quote again.

It may be “different” or a “reminder.”

Meaning if I read this post in a year…

I may read the lines much differently than I am reading it during the editing process.

Or, I may be reminded what it means to be an idea machine.

Old ideas can serve as wake-up calls & keeps the mind which wants to stray in all directions…

To stay on the correct path.

Expanding Thoughtwaves & Becoming Articulate

All the ideas don’t mean anything if it is not converted into words.

Know this.

I know smart people.

But they are smart people in the formal sense.

Not in the real world sense.

They know answers & keep it to themselves.

Sometimes due to fear, other times, because they are stingy.

Either way, the smart person is not really that smart in the real world sense.

Real-world street smarts come down to getting your idea & externalizing it.

And not even stopping there.

It’s about building the guts to market the ideas & allowing someone to internalize them.

That’s where the real-world intelligence kicks in.

The information age will see a surge in ideas.

No need to pretend to be someone that you’re not.

Just began that process of discovering a real truth & turn that thought into an idea.

It starts with only a seed.
